Shabbat HaGadol – Preparation for Your Own Miracle

Shabbat HaGadol – Preparation for Your Own Miracle!

Shabbat HaGadol

This Shabbat, "Shabbat HaGadol", is no longer a “Shabbat.”
It is the Shabbat in which the people of Israel received the power for redemption, the power to be freed from everything that binds them.
This is the Shabbat in which the Israelites took the lamb for the Passover sacrifice, in front of the eyes of the Egyptians, without fear – and God protected them and performed great miracles for them.

But this is not just a historical story – it is also your story!

This Shabbat gives each and every one of us the power to emerge from our own Egypt,
from those thoughts that diminish us, from despair, from the habits that condemn us.
You too have a way out of slavery to freedom, and you too have miracles waiting to be revealed.

Rabbi Nachman taught that everything depends on faith –
If you believe that God can redeem you, you have already begun your redemption!

Shabbat HaGadol is a Shabbat of great faith,
a Shabbat that prepares you to leave everything that limits you,
for a new path of true freedom.

So how do you prepare for Shabbat HaGadol?

Raise your eyes, believe in the good that is coming, in the mercy of God and His love for His people Israel,
and know that what was – does not require what will be!
G-d is ready to lead you on a new path, just open your heart!

Shabbat Shalom, Shabbat of personal and general redemption!

I always like to strengthen myself before I ask what to do?

Simply start with a prayer, it is the easiest and most beneficial…

A prayer to prepare for Shabbat HaGadol

Lord of the Universe, full of mercy and grace,
Here comes Shabbat HaGadol, the Holy Shabbat in which You gave us the strength to begin our redemption,
to break away from all the chains and habits that hinder and bind us from drawing closer to You, and to strengthen ourselves with complete faith in Your salvation.

Father of mercy, grant me strength and confidence in you,
that I may believe that even though the path seems closed to me, you can lead me out of all my troubles, and give me good and true advice that will bring my salvation closer to what I need.
Deliver me from all thoughts that diminish me, from all despair and weakness, and illuminate for me a new path of true freedom.

Just as you saved our ancestors from Egypt with miracles and wonders,
so in your great mercy, do good to me,
and let me see your personal miracles, this very Passover,
to feel how you lead me with the light of your face to my complete redemption.

I deserve the holiness of this Sabbath, the Great Sabbath,
that I may feel the strength it gives me to get out of my Egypt,
to remember that there is no despair in the world at all,
and to know with a complete heart that your goodness is always waiting for me – if only I would open my heart to receive it.

Good Lord, full of mercy, open the gates of redemption for me,
and let me live a life of faith and joy, freedom and light,
in your closeness and love for me.

May I be granted a Sabbath of salvation, a Sabbath of freedom,
a Sabbath of faith and personal and general redemption, in your immense mercy.

Amen and amen.

With the blessing of Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Amiel from the Breslov Meir Yeshiva in Jerusalem
