Days of Nissan

סגולת 104 מטבעות לחג השבועות

"For the days of Nissan are days of (teshuva) repentance in mercy, just as the days of Tishrei are days of repentance in law, and therefore we must seize upon them with great holiness, for they are the gates of repentance that are open to every person" (Leaves of Medicine [Collection of Letters of Rabbi Nathan of Breslov to his Son], Letter 135).

Rabbi Natan emphasizes that Nisan is a time of teshuva (repentance) with mercy, for in it we left Egypt and the path to redemption was opened for us, whereas Tishrei is a time of teshuva with judgment, when all creatures are judged on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Also in Likutei Halachot, Rabbi Natan explains that the spiritual abundance of Nisan enables a person to return in teshuva more easily, out of joy and faith in their personal redemption, just as the People of Israel were redeemed in Egypt.

So these are important days to achieve spirituality through mercy and not through law, let's take advantage of them!!

A Prayer for the Days of Nissan

to make Teshuva with Mercy and Joy in Preparing for Pesach:

Ribono Shel Olam, full of mercy,
Here I stand before You in the days of grace of the month of Nisan,
Holy days of teshuva with mercy,
Days in which You opened the gates of redemption for the People of Israel,
Days in which You illuminate a new path for us to begin anew.

Please, Hashem, grant me the merit to return to You in truth,
To achieve a teshuva of love and joy,
To cast off all worry and fear,
And to believe in Your great mercy,
That at every moment I can renew and purify myself.

Help me, good Father, to properly utilize these days,
That I may be diligent and radiant in Your service,
That I may engage in the cleaning for Pesach and the preparations for the mitzvot of the holiday
Not out of stress, exhaustion, worries, or strictness toward myself or those around me,
But out of joy and complete faith that every action is a purification of the soul,
And every effort in fulfilling the mitzvot purifies and brings me closer to You.

Grant me the privilege to fulfill all the mitzvot of Pesach
With enthusiasm and completeness,
To eat matzah with holiness,
To distance myself from chametz, both physical and spiritual,
And to recount the Exodus from Egypt with complete faith,
To feel how You redeem me personally from all my troubles.

Give me a pure heart to serve You out of love,
Good eyes to see the miracles in every detail,
And strength to sanctify these days
And to celebrate the Festival of Freedom in body and soul,
With gratitude, faith, and devotion to You.

May it be Your will that we all merit complete redemption,
With great kindness and mercy,
And may we merit to greet the righteous Mashiach soon,
With love and joy!

Amen v'Amen.
