WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR GLASSES?

WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR GLASSES? 👓✨
Many people live in constant fear:
"Someone gave me the Evil Eye (Ayin Hara),"
"My neighbor looked at me funny,"
or "Why is everything so hard? Someone must have cursed me…"
But let’s open our hearts to what the Tzaddikim teach us:
The "Evil Eye" is often a result of "Measure for Measure."
WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR GLASSES? 👓✨
When a person walks through the world with a critical eye – when it’s hard for them to see someone else succeed or receive honor, when they constantly ask, "Why did they get it and I didn’t?" – they are essentially creating their own "Evil Eye."
They are looking at what Hashem has given with an eye of resentment and jealousy instead of love.
When you complain about others or act like an "Oiber-Chacham" (a "know-it-all" who finds flaws in everything), you awaken judgments upon yourself.
You are telling the Creator:
"I am meticulously judging everyone."
And then, from Heaven, they respond:
"Well, if he is so strict, let’s check him meticulously too…"
That is the greatest Evil Eye – the one a person brings upon themselves through their own conduct.
The Strongest Shield: A "Good Eye" (Ayin Tova) 🛡️
The only way to be saved from the Evil Eye is simply to change your glasses. Instead of looking begrudgingly at what others have, let’s be happy for them!
Did someone find a great Shidduch?
"Ashreicha! How wonderful, may they build an eternal home!"
Did the neighbor buy a new car?
"Enjoy it! May Hashem let you drive it only to do Mitzvot!"
Do you want success too?
Ask Hashem with love:
"Master of the Universe, I also want to succeed…
I also want a partner to build a home.
When will my salvation come?"
When you habituate yourself to a "Good Eye," when you become one of the simple, pure people (Temimim) who are happy with their lot – you become immune.
You bring blessing and salvation upon yourself!
Remember:
What you project outward is what returns to you. As the old school saying goes:
"Everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you."
Stop complaining about the world – and the world will stop "opening an eye" on you.
Living in Gan Eden—Right Here 🌸
The truth is, I wanted to write:
"Start complimenting the world, and the world will compliment you."
But that’s not the reality. The world doesn't always give back.
We shouldn't be hurt when people don't cheer for us.
But I must be a "Mensch." I must have good character, celebrate my friend's joy, and walk the path of "Derech Eretz." Instead of searching for who gave me an "Evil Eye," I will search for where I can give someone else a "Good Eye." At the very least, I will live in joy, and Heaven will rejoice with me.
This is how you live in Paradise in this world!
Rebbe Nachman teaches in the story of "The Sophisticate and the Simpleton" that the Sophisticate always has criticism – even logical points – yet he is the most miserable person alive. He lives in a fantasy of being deprived – at Shul, at work, and at home. His complaints are poison for the soul.
The Correction (Tikun): Be like the "Simpleton." Strengthen your faith that everything is the precise hand of the Creator.
When I was in Uman, I wanted to cry about my troubles, but I started with "Thank You." That thankfulness opened my whole heart, and it actually made it easier to ask for what I needed!
Before we have complaints against others, let's check ourselves. As our Sages said: "Adorn yourself first, then adorn others." Do I greet people with a smile? Am I willing to let go?
If you were wronged financially, seek justice through the law – but don't make "crying about it" your profession.
Even if you are right and the other is wrong, remember:
the one who cheats or lives in anger is a miserable person living in a personal hell. May we never be like that!
When we accept where Hashem has placed us with love, we see a whole different world. We stay connected to spirituality and never lose our faith.
When a person stops complaining about the world, the world stops complaining about him.
"Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the Torah of Hashem!"
Let’s be simple, let’s be happy with our lot, and may we merit to see only the good in everyone.
